“To everything turn, turn, turn
There is a season turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven- The Byrds
I’ve been wishing winter would end and a new season begin. Wishing for the change to occur and free us from the depths of winter. Things are dead or dormant now and its icy grip has many depressed, worn out or just ready for a change. Spring seems far away at the moment, but soon tiny shoots of daffodils, little buds on trees-swelling with the promise of new life. Baby animals; fawns, bear cubs, baby birds will be born. A time of rebirth is just over the next sunrise.
As I was letting my best friend cry on my shoulder today as she was experiencing changes in her marriage and then tonight as a very dear loved one was facing monumental change with jobs, home, uprooting her whole life. I realized that just as in nature we too go through what my loved one called “a season of change”.
Winter is our time of despair and loss. When we don’t feel the we can go on. Be it the loss of a loved one through death or divorce. Job loss in this economy has been a winter that many have had to endure. At times like these it’s very hard to feel as if we will ever experience the warmth of spring or the light it brings.
Since Spring brings forth new life, we have to get through the winters of our lives (and there will be many) in order to experience our Spring. New hopes, new dreams, renewed energy to see our problems in a fresh light and find solutions for them.
We can always learn from nature. It is a cycle of life, death and rebirth. So do not despair if you are currently in a winter season for spring will come at last and bring you back with all the beauty it contains and you will once again be reborn.
