As Sarah stood there trying to decide how many white pumpkins she wanted to get, her granddaughter Cassey stomped her foot and said “Grams, you can’t use white pumpkins, pumpkins have to be ORANGE!!!!”
Sarah sighed and smiled all in one breath. How could she not when she looked at the miracle of her granddaughter? “Cassey, we’ll have orange pumpkins too. But Grams wants these for decoration when she has her Halloween party”.
“Grams, are you going to have sprinkles at your party? And ghosts? Not scary ghosts, but happy ghosts who aren’t mean to little girls like me. I don’t want them to scare me. I want them to make me smile. I want them to smile when they see me in my Dora the Explorer costume”.
“Cassey, how could they not smile when they see you in your costume? You’re going to be the best dressed at the party this year” Sarah said and winced to herself as she thought of what the costume had actually cost. It was perfect in every way and it made Cassey smile. Since Mama had given her the money it made Sarah happy to be able to do things for all of her Grands, but Cassey, well Cassey was truly their miracle baby and Sarah wanted it all to be perfect for her.
“Grams, what are you going to be? Do you have a costume? What is PawPaw going to be? What is Daddy going to be? Oh and Uncle Earl Ray? Do I have to eat some of everything at a party? Who’s making the food? Will there be cake”?
Sarah couldn’t help but laugh as all the questions came bursting out of Cassey. It was like she couldn’t talk fast enough, she had so much to say and was afraid she wouldn’t get it all said.
“Cassey, I don’t know yet, PawPaw is going to be a zombie, no clue what Daddy is going to be or Uncle Earl Ray for that matter, we’ll just have to see. You don’t have to eat anything you don’t want to at the party, that’s one of the fun things about a party, everyone is bringing a dish and yes there will be cake”, Sarah replied. ” Can we have 5 minutes with no questions? Please? Grams needs to think about pumpkins”.
“Ok” Cassey said, ” I just have one more question, then I’ll be quiet, promise”.
“One more then” Sarah said.

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.
Get comfy, grab a cup and see what everyone else did with their words. Links below
