For now the #MiracleMike updates will be done here, on the blog. It’s easier for me to keep everyone informed this way.
Have to give it to him, in almost 24 years, I’ve never been bored when he’s involved. He keeps me on my toes constantly, in all sorts of ways.
The news was good that the insurance was re-instated, the news was bad that we have such a high deductible. It will make it virtually impossible to keep him on his meds. The only way around it is if he goes back in the hospital and then it will over-ride the high deductible. I would prefer that NOT happen. So I will struggle to figure it all out and try not to worry him with it all.
The kidney doctor will not sign off on dialysis at this time. Wondering why? Well, his Creatinine levels are DOWN, yes down. 3 weeks ago they were at 4.8 which is why we were going to start dialysis. That is borderline Renal Failure. The doctor thought we needed to get it started before he went into full blown Renal Failure.
As of Friday, May 5th they were down to 3.5! An amazing drop in such a short time. Maybe all the things we have been doing are starting to work for him. That’s my prayer.
We still don’t know what will happen with his heart. It’s a time bomb and it could go off at any moment. The fear and uncertainty are hard to live with. So many of you have been there, you know what I’m talking about. His kidneys still can’t handle the dies and if we try the dies needed to work on his heart it will kill his kidneys with no hope of them coming back. If we can get the Creatinine down to the low 2’s there are things they can do to protect them from the dies and they can see what is going on with the heart. A roller coaster I am ready to get off of.
So for now, we just keep doing what we are doing and pray that there will be no Flash Edema episodes, which will put the heart in more distress. Hopefully with the kidney function better, there won’t be.
Blood pressure meds have his feet and legs swelling so much it’s painful for him and is stopping some of his activity, so again a double edged sword. Blood pressure is better, the swelling is slowing him down.
If you would like to help with the meds, here is the link to a Go Fund Me account my cousin, Belle Ashley set up for us.
