Southern Belle Charm is going to participate in our first craft show in about 6 weeks and I’ve been trying to come up with some different ideas for inexpensive things to offer.
This is a Dollar Tree 4″ Libby votive.
After playing with some other ideas, I thought this one was the best so far.
Wash and dry the votive, removing the barcode sticker off the bottom. Using painters tape, run it around the diameter of the glass, right below where you want the words to be. I used the tape to be sure I had the letters even on the bottom so it didn’t like I just threw them on there………. Then I used some self-adhesive letters I had picked up at Walmart. I just played with the letters till I had them spaced the way I wanted.
Using Rustoleum Frosted Glass spray paint, I put on three light coats and let them dry. I can’t stress enough to use light even coats. If you don’t you will have bubbles and runs and it won’t look nice.
Then using an exacto knife to get under the letter, I pulled them off slowly. Letting the paint completely and taking the letters off slowly is also important. If you pull them off too soon and too quickly, you will possibly pull off some of the paint.
I like the clean, understated look I got with this.
