Where I Work
Today’s post is a Secret Subject Swap and it’s about Where I Work………Yep the picture is where I work. It’s where I sit and do what I do. Love my couch, it’s so comfy. I can “waller” ( a Southern word) and take care of the business I’ve been involved in for the last 18 years. It’s where I keep it rolling, which is what they pay me to do. I am thrilled that they didn’t want to lose me after 17 years and worked with me to figure out how I could keep doing what I do from 900 miles away. Of course, the huge cut in pay has been hard to adjust too, but I can work in my jammies if I want to.
Not much of an office, I know. I have one upstairs, I just don’t use it. It’s hard for the Dukester to go up and down the stairs, since he can’t see them. And he gets antsy if I am not within 20 feet of him. He paces and worries and sits in front of the door. I mean, look at that face, how could I worry him like that?
You can barely see it, but yes there is a coffee cup sitting there. Have to have my coffee. I drink it till about noon and then switch to water. Working from home is hard work and I have to stay hydrated…….
Since I work from home my phone is my lifeline to my job. I take calls from the reps, customers, I give price quotes and answer installation questions several times a day. As long as I have the phone with me at all times I can take Mama to the doctor, use my lunch time to go to the grocery store and pick up Grands from school.
My laptop is also essential. It’s how I keep up with the bookkeeping, the payments arriving from customers and all the things I did when I was physically there. Some things are harder to take care of, like hiring and firing, but we are managing it so far.
So this is it, it’s where I work and answer comments on Southern Belle Charm’s facebook page and look for the fun things to post.
And to answer the prompt from Dawn at Spatulas On Parade ( see it below) despite needed the electronics for my job, I couldn’t do it without my Dukester.
Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 11 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
My prompt was submitted by Dawn from Spatulas On Parade
Look at your desk, or work area. Think about the things you see. What are critical and why? What one thing can you NOT do without?
