#MiracleMike Update For The Week
One of those weeks y’all! The lab lost his bloodwork and it has taken me until today to get it straightened out. Frustrating to say the least……
This is one of my favorite pictures of Mike. I have a lot of them cos he’s just so darn cute. 🙂 We were at the Durham Bulls ballpark. Something that had been on our bucket list.
Creatinine levels are back up. Not a good thing. They jumped back to 4. from 3.5 the week before. So we are tightening the diet and I am nagging him to drink even more water than he is. I believe water is the key to getting those numbers down and keeping them down. We’re also going to try some new vitamins formulated to help strengthen his immune system.
He had an episode on Saturday that was scary. He was trying to cook a pork roast on the grill and after about 3 hours he was just worn out and his breathing got labored. I caught it and sent him in to lie down, gave him some more BP medicine, had him use the inhaler and sleep for about an hour. That seemed to do the trick and he was tired but ok when he woke up. He had to finish the roast in the oven, but it did have that smoky flavor that he loves. Heck, who am I kidding? We all love it!
A good friend of ours passed away this past week in Florida. We’d known him for years. He was a car friend that had been battling cancer for several years. We also lost another friend of 25 years this month to cancer. Those have hit him hard. It’s made him realize how close he came to dying. It’s scary for him to think about that and for the most part he has avoided it. He couldn’t the last couple weeks.
I’m still waiting to hear from the drug companies as to whether they are going to accept us into their grant programs. In the meantime, I’m sweating it big time.
I’ve sit here today and watched people go in and out of the neighbor’s house with a heavy heart. Her husband passed yesterday. He had been sick for a while. I’m heartbroken for her, yet find myself unable to walk down there and express my condolences. Today I am thankful that it’s not me. We’ve got #MiracleMike.
We see the kidney doctor on Wednesday and Mike will go Monday for more blood work. Praying I can get the numbers down over the weekend and we get a good report Wednesday!
If you would like to help with the meds, here is the link to a Go Fund Me account my cousin, Belle Ashley set up for us.
