Sarah sat on the screen porch watching the velvety waves roll in and out on her little corner of the beach. With all that had happened in the last few months she hadn’t had much time to watch the sun rise while she sipped her coffee and the sun brightened the water. She told herself she needed to get going. It was the day of Mama’s party and they were have a big “blow-out. Mama insisted it’s what she wanted and of course, it fell to Sarah to make it work. It was Mama’s party and she wanted it to be perfect.
Taking one last look at the waves, Sarah got to her feet and headed inside to get the crockpot going. Mama wanted Crockpot Swedish Meatballs.
As she got the meatballs going, she looked at the roses she needed to get arranged and sighed. She wanted this to be Mama’s perfect party. She really did, but she was so very tired. This was supposed to be her time in life. Thanks to Mama, she and Hubs had the means to enjoy their lives and spoil the grandkids. She wanted to read, walk the beach and maybe take a trip or two. Yet here she was, just as tied down as when the kids were little. She couldn’t see letting anyone else tend to Mama. That was HER Mama and she wasn’t about to let someone else take care of her.
Sarah shook her head and put a smile on her face as she heard Mama walk in and announce “I bought a harpsichord! We’e going to take lessons together! It will be fun”……………
Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now. My words were:
bright ~ feet ~ crockpot ~ harpsichord ~ velvety ~ roses
They were submitted by: Dinosaur Superhero Mommy
Sit down, get comfy and check out what everyone wrote about this week
