Belles are made of a lot more than sugar and spice, each of us with our own special recipe, all wrapped around a core of steel. Throughout our life, events happen to make us question if our steel will hold.
Six years ago today my Dad passed away. I miss him so much that at times it feels unbearable. If he were here today he would probably say “You’re a Massey, pull yourself up and get on with it”.
But his heart would be heavy seeing my brother, sister and I so lost without him. He was grumpy, cantankerous and sometimes aggravating and we loved him with all our hearts. We miss him with every breath we take. We always will.
I will get to see my Daddy again someday. This knowledge gives me the comfort I need to continue “gettin’ on with it”. I will always miss him. I will always think I need to call him on his birthday, Father’s Day or just about any other day, only to remember he’s not there.
I am a Belle, I have that inner strength that allows me to have heartaches and keep going. Everything we experience, whether good or bad, just adds more to our special recipe that molds us into the Belles we are today.
